Title edited for brevity and caps. "returning to pipes but really a noob" is now placed here. -jpm

I've smoked a pipe off and on since college (I'm 65), have been mostly a cigar guy all my life. But this fall I got back into the pipe and have fallen down the rabbit hole. There is a small but wonderful pipe community at Badger & Blade wet shaving forums, but I thought I'd drop in to a dedicated pipe forum to see what I can learn.

Favorite blends are Englishes but the War Department won't have that in the house. Been smoking Prince Albert, Carter Hall, Lane 1Q, and Mac Baren Vanilla Loose Cut and she has not objected for the most part. Favorite blend is probably Peterson My Mixture 965 or Presbyterian Mixture if I had to choose one.

Have recently tried pipe restoration, but with one that really just needed cleaning, not 'restoring'. I could see getting sucked into that big time.

Cheers,

John

Welcome!

Please
put your location in your Profile, as people are forgetful.
Why:
That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts. It cuts down on posts or PMs asking where you are.
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.

Yo jc. Welcome from West Chester. Actually Dilworthtown. The Philly pipe club Christopher Morley Pipe Club has been COVIDbound for a year and a half, since we meet at the Pen & Pencil Club in Center City (a block away from Holt's Cigars), and we are waiting on P&P to get comfortable enough to reopen. In the meantime, I've been going to the Lehigh Valley PC in Bethlehem, which has been meeting for quite a few months now at The Wooden Match. LMK if you are interested.

Welcome from central North Carolina. I got to Philly twice on business and really enjoyed it. I caught a nice meal at Bookbinder's Seafood Restaurant back when that was open, recommended at work by a native Philadelphian. It's a pretty good walking city. I got the assigned work done and spent some time at the art museum (where "Rocky" ran up the steps) but missed the Rodin museum which was closed for repairs. I wanted to take the boat to Camden, but having seen Camden in later years, it was just as well I didn't do that. It's a struggling city. Also saw Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the mint.
