Finally joining this forum after many years of using it to inform my pipe and tobacco collecting! I have smoked pipes for a number of years after initially smoking cigars. In terms of tobacco, I was a diehard Dunhill Durbar fan until they stopped production. I have recently been starting to enjoy some of the Lakeland blends. I have a number of pipes (somewhere between 60 and 70 at the last count, many still awaiting restoration) but pride of place is a 1920s Charatan that was virtually unsmoked. I'm particularly fond of the early British pipe makers from around where I live in East London, but have a special place in my heart for Thorburn Clarke pipes. Anyway, thank you all for all your help over the years and I'm glad to finally be a member!

Welcome from Central Texas, USA. Nice to hear about your new pipe acquisition. I recently acquired a very lightly smoked 1920s meerschaum with a real amber stem.

Welcome aboard from central North Carolna, U.S. I've gotta love London, a great walking city. I expected people to be quite reserved but felt much at home. I enjoyed the tourist spots -- the Tower, St. Pauls where I climbed to the lantern of the dome, the War Rooms, the Tate, the Portrait Gallery, St. Martins in the Fields and its music and basement candlelit cafeteria. But I also liked the ordinary spots, restaurants and pubs. Just a great city. I have Parker, Britannia, and Ferndown pipes.

It's a wonderful city for walking! My job involved a lot of walking around central London, often very early in the morning - it's fascinating to see it before it really comes to life. I would love a Ferndown, I imagine they're incredible pipes.

welcome aboard. Weird thing is how many people read this site and then join afterwards. It makes me feel infamous
