Hello from southern Indiana.

Been a lurker for a good while and thought I should sign up and become a member to participate and engage more.

As a very young man I used to smoke a pipe...mostly to visit the only tobacco shop in town whose owner had a particularly attractive daughter, and learned many things about tobacco from that family run business.

I also ended up making a good friend with the daughter who married my neighbor....another story for another time.

After that I was just a social cigarette smoker, the beer bone's connected to the smoke bone kind of guy... but not anymore.

Anyway after many years the pipe bug bit me again, and I picked up a cob, and a sack of a local shops bulk mild aromatic and have been really enjoying it.

So, today I went all in, ordered my dream pipe from Smokingpipes.
A Savinelli Fantasia rusticated 320 and a tin of Mac Baren 7 Seas Royal.

Then I promptly joined here...

So thanks to all whose threads I have read and learned so very much from, and am looking forward to furthering my fledgling endeavour into all things pipes.

Cheers,

M

Welcome from Illinois. Years ago when timeshares were popular my in laws had a timeshare in French Lick. Beautiful part of the state.

Savinelli...good choice in a pipe. I have a few and they're all good smokers.

French Lick (aside from having a bit of a naughty name) Indeed has a very unique history.

The whole surrounding area.....there is a lot of wineries now, an old train from the remnants of the Monon linet hat you can take a tour on, the Dome, Golfing...the Resort which is a casino now. It was popular with big wigs and the Hollywood elite in the early 1900's.
A lot had to do with the natural springs there.
Plus there are some other places near by, St. Meinrad and lots of camping, Holiday World...pretty cool area.
A friend of mine from Breitenholz Germany went camping with us one time and as we got into the area he said it looked just like Germany...which makes sense because most the area was settled by Germans.

Also, I believe it's the hometown of Larry Bird, if you're a Celtics fan.
