I wanted to love this tobacco so much but alas I think it's awful on my palette at least.Haunted Bookshop is always on the dry side from my experience.
This tin I just opened is like cigarette tobacco dry. It's only a may dated tin as well.It comes fairly dry -- I wouldn't say 'dust dry' though.
I wanted to like this blend so badly for Matches860 but I can't do it. Sorry John?Great name. Offers so much promise. Tastes like hot air.

Man when you watch those videos of Matches smoking bookshop just ripping that savinelli without mercy.Yeah, the ribbon cuts can be like that.
Try packing lighter and sipping it much much slower. Subtleties of some C&D virginia blends can be a little finicky at times.
Never base smoking preference or techniques on someone else's, you'll always be disappointed. If you want to honor our fallen friend, just enjoy you're pipes and tobacco like he did.I wanted to like this blend so badly for Matches860 but I can't do it. Sorry John?
It also helps if you smoke it really, really slow. It’ll get kind of cigarette-ish and acrid if you smoke to quickly, but it has a great natural sweetness and a nice little Perique kick if you go slow. It’s a great blend to have with your morning coffee. Don’t give up on it just yet, but you may decide you just don’t like it, which is ok too.
Very true -- Semois, Five Brothers (to use 'straight' burleys as an example)...night and day difference if not sipped. Also both are drier than HB, which can make the difference even more pronounced if not smoked very patiently.True. Most Burley forward blends should be sipped to be truly appreciated.
