Happy *Canadian* Thanksgiving!

Happy gobble or whatever, Canadian brethren & sistern! A good holiday to you all!

Down east it's a little more old world , roast turkey with giblets gravy , savory butter stuffing ( called dressing ) and cranberry . Served up with a traditional jiggs dinner , all in one pot goes salted pork or brisket , green leafy cabbage , turnip , turnip tops , potato , carrot and peas pudding , which is yellow split peas tied in a muslin bag.
Must have pickled beets and mustard pickles on the side , a nice glass of chianti and cheers .
Dessert will be warm apple crumble with vanilla ice cream.

When my father's parents were both around, they hosted an expansive Thanksgiving dinner with siblings and wives coming in from other towns and adjoining states. They had a fine big dining room and a spacious tall frame house. On one famous occasion, a cook helper hired just for the day marched in with the roast turkey and it toppled on the floor. My grandmother, with classic calm, said, "Take that one back to the kitchen and bring out the other turkey." Everyone kept a straight face, the helper took the bird back to the kitchen and dusted it off, and marched out again to present the bird.

Haha great story Tom, I might have to use that at Christmas. I will be feeding 13 people and that's a large turkey!
