For my birthday today (what I jokingly call DaveMas) my wife gave me a new Savinelli Santa Maria 703ks pipe. Smooth polished, lovat shape billiard. Wow. Will be loading a bowl later. I absolutely love the classic shape and feel of this pipe.
Here's a photo of a similar pipe at a dealer site she bought it from; I have to say that I was impressed with the packaging of the pipe.

First - thanks to all of you for the kind wishes. It has been a great day with family and friends. To my wife's credit, I did send her potential pipe candidates with embedded links. She understands that pipe choices are personal for a variety of reasons and tries to go with my options. I will say that she did get me a Zippo pipe lighter for Christmas and fuel - great choices.
So - I've come in after loading the new Sav with McClelland's Red Cake; a great neutral smoke with a mild pleasing flavor and room note. It was a bit chilly on the back porch, but I was determined to try out the new DaveMas pipe. I was not disappointed. The Zippo worked great as well, so I am feeling quite outfitted at this point.
