I sit here in disbelief that there is only about 2 weeks left of July. I'm not quite sure where the summer is going. How's everybody doing?

Anyone have trips on the go or summer projects?

Got back from Rochester a few days ago, visited the Strong Museum of Play. Highly recommend that place if you have kids, or want to see some games from your childhood.

Looking to try some new blends in the next little while too, and blow the dust off the pipes - it's been too long.

Between work, home, hobbies, and interests, I have to say this summer has been better than most. I've found myself spending time with my wife and children much more this summer. My oldest daughter (15) and I have gone out on a few motorcycle rides. I was able to take my son (13) out fishing a few times just the guys. My middle daughter (12) and I have been able to check out some local ruins and folklore. My youngest (5) and I found a new playground we can walk to. And my wife and I were able to enjoy a few dates so far this season.

Mixed feelings... Getting ready to move our son from Western, NC to Nebraska for graduate school. Excited to see him again, but I know deep inside the visits will be fewer and more time between.... But at least he (we) don't have to pay for grad school (and he gets a stipend!!!)

Not looking forward to the drive... Already told the wife "This will be the only time we will drive there"

Well my power and most of the Kansas side of Kansas City's power was out for 3 days last weekend and the temps were in the 90's so not great.
I'm retired from an electric utility company and have worked many many days and nights after storms in the effort to restore power. Working 16 hour days in the extreme heat or extreme cold is no fun. Everyone suffers, the customers and the crews.

The power never seems to go out when it's 60 degrees out. 😉

Our usual Florida Panhandle summer. Hot and humid with afternoon thunder boomers. Roads jammed with tourists. Long bicycle rides often caught out in said thunder boomers. Wife’s work keeps us back and forth between Panama City and Orlando. Haven’t been able to get up to the mountains. Next week she will be working and I will be riding my bike on bike trails around the Orlando area, again. Afternoons in one of the Corona Cigar locations. Too much dining out. Too much Scotch. 😎 The insufferable whining of an old retired guy!

True story, Evergy called in crews from Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, & Colorado. They've been working 16's round the clock to get KC, Topeka, and Lawrence restored. It was the largest mobilization of utility crews in KC ever. Those utility crews and tree crews have been humping for sure. It looks like they have all the multiple customer outages dealt with now and are only left with individual service drop outages at this time. I guess it could be worse though, our mass outages are usually caused by ice storms.

I was just thinking the other day how this summer is flying by. It’s been good so far for us. Went to beach in June and that was great. We’ve been going to our neighborhood pools a lot this year and just getting out and enjoying the heat. Hopefully we get back to the beach or go camping one last time before school starts.

Nothing to write home about. Just the eat, sleep, and work routine. We set up at this location 10 yrs ago and I finally got someone to install an AC (used) in the ceiling this past Sunday. Within an hour on Monday.... kerplunk, no AC. They brought me a lemon. It won't really cool down here until November. So, I'm keeping the cats in good supply of food and water, and my daughter leaves next month for college. Where does the time go? KIMG2506.JPGKIMG2510.JPGKIMG2504.JPG

We've spent more time indoors than planned, the wildfire smoke has been thick at times and my 8 year old son is sensitive to it as he is just getting over a cold he cought at a birthday party.

Instead of camping as originally planned this summer we are going to stay in a hotel with AC and swimming pool when we go on a trip in August to Saskatchewan. Our family has never been there, we usually go west to BC in the summer.

Weather has been shitty since May. Cold, foggy, rainy. We've had a few good days but the humidity was through the roof.
I hope August and September will be better but I have this persistent feeling we'll have to start burning wood in the woodstove before the end of September.
Mood: shitty, just like the weather.
