The temporary chimney atop the Sistine Chapel released a plume of white smoke on Thursday, signaling that the 133 cardinals working inside had reached a two-thirds majority to elect a new pope for the Catholic Church.

Bells at St. Peter's Basilica rang and crowds cheered as the white smoke billowed from the chimney.

The new leader of the Catholic Church was chosen amid the third round of conclave voting.

Awaiting the announcement on who it is!

Do you suppose that in honor of this occasion papal souvenirs will now be offered for sale in Rome? Hummmm, let's see what they might include:

Popecorn
Fresh, hot, Popecorn with or without our signature basilica butter. It comes in a reusable miter-shaped box that can be worn on your head so that you, too, can look just like the Pope!

Pope-On-A-Rope
Pope-shaped soap on a handy rope for good clean fun in the shower or baptismal font.

Popegun
The Popegun shoots Pontif-shaped soft projectiles. Quiet and accurate, it's perfect for use during mass to awaken those nodders in the pews in front of you during the homily.

Popesicles
These Pope-shaped treats are cool, tasty, and refreshing. Choose from papal peach and cardinal cherry! Plus, the sticks are perfect for making your favorite Catholic crafts!

Popecid
When you've had way too much Popecorn and one-to-many Popesicles, take a Popecid tablet for fast relief. Your upset stomach will bless you for it.

Pipe Dreamer and Star Gazer
First ever US Pope. Argentina is America.
Argentinians refer to themselves as ArgentinIans or some such. Having traveled the world - no where has anyone been confused when I have stated I am an American. In fact, it is more common for others to ask if I am from America. Geography and Nationality collide on those from the USA. Otherwise it would be more proper to put north, central, or south before America. No one referred to Pope Francis as an American Pope. Always a South American.
