Has anyone had Mt. Marcy? I've been looking at the H&H blends, but haven't tried any yet. I've noticed they seem to go for similarity between other makers blends such as, "Daybreak" = Dunhill "Early Morning Pipe", which leads me to think that maybe "Mt. Marcy" = McClelland "Blue Mountain". Am I correct in my theory, or way off base? Has anyone tried/compared both blends? All opinions welcome!

I haven't tried blue mountain, but I have had mt Marcy, it has an undertone of Latika which made it hard for me to taste much else. Only other flavor I got was a general sweetness. It wasn't bad by any means, just overall plain. I would probably buy again.

Mt. Marcy is a Turkish-forward Latakia blend. Blue Mountain was McClelland's entry in the 2011 Balkan Sobranie 759 Throwdown. Our entry was BlackHouse, so if you want to try an H&H blend that's closest to Blue Mountain, BlackHouse would be your best bet.

It does sound very good! As a matter of fact, there's several of their blends I've been looking at! I'm pretty sure I'll be adding some H&H blends to my next TAD!

I've had Blue Mountain and Blackhouse and both are excellent. But, and I told Russ this, I think his Magnum Opus is better than Blackhouse. It is an exceptional blend and highly recommended. It's like have a filet at Shula's.

Ne plus ultra.

I'm with papipe on preferences, though Larry's Blend still tops them all in my book. But my Top200 Cellar has all of these in stock. Mt. Marcy is a less complex, pleasant and middle weight English/Balkan.

Having my first bowl of H&H Mt. Marcy right now! I gotta say, I like it! Very pleasing, smooth, and definitely satisfies the Latakia craving! I have to say, I don't think I'd trust their tins for cellaring. Not a huge deal for me since I usually jar most everything right away, but still, I like to have the option of cellaring in the tin.

Hey petes. I've been happy with everything I've tried from H&H. Even if it was something that wasn't really my bag, I felt it was well done.

On the tins, why not trust them? I've just started cellaring stuff and don't understand the difference in tins.

Thanks roth. I have noticed the different types, but hadn't really thought anything of it. I doesn't really effect my cellaring at the moment since it's impractical for me to buy more than one tin of something. So I'll open the tin, mason jar some and smoke the rest.
I saw Black House mentioned. I really like it a lot. I haven't tried the Magnum Opus yet.
