Greetings, I am brand new to tobacco pipe smoking and came across this site while doing some research on Falcon pipes. I have a Falcon pipe that I am planning to use as my first pipe. I have ordered a pipe tool, carrying pouch, pipe cleaners, Falcon dry rings, a cork knocker, and some concave pipe screens (not sure if these screens should be used with a Falcon). For my tobacco, I have purchased Erinmore Mixture by Scandinavian Tobacco Group (I chose this randomly from my local tobacco stand). I am planning to use a Bic lighter at first. Is there anything else I need to get started? Any tips? I won’t receive my accessories in the mail for a few weeks so I unfortunately have to wait to give it my first go, however I look forward to learning more on this site. Hello from Washington state! Personally, I would skip the pipe screens. I don't know how they would work with a Falcon pipe but they would interfere with forming a cake in the heel of the bowl.
Welcome from North Carolina. You don't need to over complicate smoking with a Falcon, all that's required is tobacco, fire and a few pipe cleaners. Enjoy.
Was in Vancouver about 20 yrs ago….god I’m old, went to meet a girl from the interwebs in White Rock, stayed a few weeks till i had to go home, great area and she was cute AND a freak, sadly in the end she wasn’t going to move away from her family and i wasn’t moving to Canada. Last i saw she had a girlfriend, I’m a hard act to follow ?

Screens aren’t necessary even though it seems like they would be. I used a bic lighter on my Falcon when I started and scorched the rim of the bowl a little so I’d recommend using matches if possible, at least until you get the hang of lighting a pipe. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I have.
