When I was a kid, we'd load up into the station wagon and head off to Harper's Ferry to pick apples occasionally.

At least once a year, we'd travel the segment of the Appalachian Trail called Skyline Drive.

Front Royal is where my parents spent their honeymoon, so they would endure the four kids fighting in the back all the way down the road so they could get all nostalgic and relive the moment.

I didn't always appreciate it then but wouldn't mind being there for a visit now.

A cold night to be out there! (temps in the teens). I've hiked the trail up past there when I was a scout. My Eagle project with a buddy was the shelter at Devils Racecourse and a low-water bridge and steps. I think the shelter and bridge remain, they relocated the trail access slightly at that location (my project was in the mid 70's). Enjoy your trip, I envy that! Post pix when you can! What is your trail name?
