I have wanted myself one of these just for the novelty factor, but think one would be nice to add to my collection. On a whim, I searched the bay today and found a beautiful version that had been "rarely smoked". So I snatched it up. Not sure how rare the hurricane standard pipe is, but it doesn't matter much to me, because I just wanted it because I wanted one. Can't wait to give her a clean and put her through a little smoke.

I bought one too, and in great condition. Just haven’t fired it up yet. I’d love to hear the pros/cons once you try it out.

I'd be interested to know how it actually works in a wind. Wind caps are the cheap and easy version, but can score the chamber near the top I hear. Another approach to dealing with wind is to pack a deep chamber, like a stack or any other deep chamber, about half way, so the ember is somewhat out of the wind. It will be intriguing to hear how it works outdoors.
