I got a great deal on Tobacco from one of the others here, it's great, especially considering Canadian retail tobacco prices. This cost me only $75, not including the shipping of course, far better than the $59.99 I paid for that 50g tin of rattray's black mallory, considering this is 1lb variety pack, as well as a 50g pack of cherry tobacco.
The variety pack consists of:
- 4oz "HGL"

- 4oz "Match BB1938"

- 4oz "Capitan Bob"

- 4oz "Match presbyterian"
Considering I am only planning on smoking twice a week and special occasions, this should last me a crazy long time, which is just makes this in my eyes a smarter decisions, than continually buying small amounts at retail prices.

That's a good selection, I think. Captain Bob, if I remember, is decidedly mild, so you might want to start with it. Get those in jars. Since you are moderate smoker, as am I, you want to have these stay fresh for a while. I do my labels for jars on the computer and print them out, just for fun, trying to match the type face with the blend.

Why the match Presbyterian over the tinned Presbyterian?
He bought this from another member, not a vendor.
Great haul, dude! One thing you might want to try at some point is to mix in a bit of the match Pres. with some of the match BB1928. My understanding is the latter doesn't contain orientals, so by combining the two, I bet it would be really interesting.

I hope you enjoy them, I've gotta say I feel for you living in Canada as the price you have to pay is quite simply scandalous. I honestly thought we had it bad in England when it came to the price of pipe tobacco and the choice available but then I found out about Canada and Australia and it made me realise that things could be a lot worse.

Nice addition to your tobacco supply. I also smoke a pipe about twice a week and am in Canada. I have bought some tobacco online, some to support my local B&M but the majority has been purchased when my wife and I travel to the US. We each can bring back 200g tax free, so each trip we bring back a total of 14 ounces. Quickly I have built up a supply that will last me a good long time. Maybe once I have enough tobacco in storage or retire I will increase my smoking frequency.

Since you're starting out with pipes, you might want to keep the quantities low so you can sample a greater variety of blends, until you know what you like over time. Your tastes will change. Some things you like will become too routine, and others you don't will bloom for you. Four ounces isn't a huge amount, but may be more than you need for a sample. Just a suggestion. These may all be keepers and enjoyable for months/years to come.
