Every year I plant this variety to feed birds in the Winter. They grow 10 feet high with a 12 in. Flower head. When laden with mature seeds the heads are very heavy and bend over. In fall I cut off the thick stalks at the base and hang them on tree branches. The attract several kinds of birds a few battle with each other for thier share. The seeds are expensive in the stores, so grow your own.

I would LOVE to see some pics of this, if you have any to share. We here at the house have lots of sunflowers, but nothing that large, I think it is a great idea.
