Too close to Seattle.
Got this Castello as part of a an estate lot I recently purchased from ebay, and the finish seems a bit odd. I'm wondering if this has perhaps been refinished; has anyone seen a Sea Rock finished with the black accents on the brown stain?

Irregardless of the finish, I'm diggin' the 1" wide bowl. With the loose tenon fixed I'm looking forward to getting it cleaned up and seeing how it smokes!

The finish is generally darker, with reddish-orange highlights on the raised portions of the rustication.

May be that somebody scrubbed it with alcohol to "clean" it up and then just never re-stained it.

North Georgia mountains.
As somebody who restores open, I've only seen this when refinishing a pipe. This is why I tens to stain with the same color. However, it's odd that there's not more black spots. Thatd be a hard pipe to clean that much dark stain off of unless you sandblasted the stain off. Nonetheless, my guess would be the dark spots are a previous stain.
Great looking pipe though!
