This year I only took along one pipe to Tokyo--a very old Andreas Bauer panelled bulldog sort of thing. In twenty years, the meer bug had never bitten me and I only smoked cobs and briars. Well, I've been bitten hard. Mr. Bass seems to be an acknowledged authority, but I can find relatively little he has written on the subject. Does anybody know where I can find more?

He was a member here. If you look up some of his posts, I bet you can find a wealth of information... http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/profile/fred

Here are the links for two excellent articles written by Mr. Bass, RE. Meerschaum pipes: "Slave to the White Goddess" and "The Meerschaum Pipe Experience."
