Excellent. A breath of Montreal. Fine grain with a really classy stem.

Thank you all. I've been wanting a B&B since I found their website and have been wanting a Canadian made pipe to add to my collection. Reasonable price too so I couldn't pass. Going to cristen it with a bowl of Penzance. OK, OK, I have be careful with the 'P' word. Don't wanna get flamed for saying I like it.

Congratulations, Shikano53!
That is one beautiful pipe: shape, grain and those lovely thick walls.
I'm curious about the double red spots, though. My Blatter only has one as does the incoming birthday present I just bought for myself. There's got to be a good story in there somewhere and I bet Pruss, our resident Blatter specialist, might know the answer.
That's a good grab, pal.

Here is a bit of information I managed to find. If Pruss checks in he can enlighten us.

I'm color blind. What color are the dots on my pipe????????

Please, please tell me the dots are red. I really thought they were.

Honest, I'm not kidding.

I'm far from an expert on Blatter pipes. Everything I know I learned from the aforementioned pipedia entries, and a few emails bank and forth with Robert.
As I understand it, there is some debate as to whether the second dot was intended to denote a higher quality tier, or whether it was simply another approach to maker's marks. All the Select pipes I've seen bear the signature of the carver on the shank (Robert Blatter in my case), with the word 'Select', and then a numeric code which identifies the year and the pipe (ie. 01-68 would be the first pipe made in 1968).
The train is wonderful on your pipe, Shikano, and it has the thick walls I've come to expect from B&B pipes. May it smoke well for you for a very long time.

Thank you all for the comments. I'm glad the dots are red. I would have asked my grandsons what color the dots are but they as color blind as I am. My wife loves to mess with my color blind head. For example, she bought me a high vis YELLOW riding jacket a number of years ago because I had talked about getting one to be more visible while riding. I really like it. It wasn't until this year, in fact this July when I was telling her how much I liked my Hi-Vis yellow riding jacket that she told me it was in fact, green. I was horrified. Here I thought it was like a bumble-bee and now I look like the green hornet. I have gone to work with two different color socks that she told me were both black and I shudder to think what color some of my shirts are. Oh well, there just colors. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I'm too old to worry about colors anymore.

Damn, that is a beautiful pipe. With that grain, you may need to wear safety gloves to handle it so your hands don't bleed.

Thank you for all the kind comments. Just to clarify what the dots represent I have exchanged a few emails with Patrick at Blatter and Blatter. I have pasted it below.

Hope this helps.
Yes, they are red.

They all have a red dot ( Logo).

When a pipe has exceptionally straight grain, we will add a second red dot.
Cheers !
