I knew nothing about retouching but had learned never to say no to a customer

Very smart. I learned basic photo retouching using an airbrush, but never really worked at it.

Oh yea, I finally decided to leave the painting alone, without any changes.

Without question, the artist always knows best - thanks for letting us know.

The red-orange rectangle on the stomach is there because I feel it belongs there.

I like the idea of the bar as it implies a political bent to the painting, and gives reason for the look in her eyes.
I would even go so far as to actually leave the tape on, rather than painting the bar. It's a wonderful reading of contemporary views of nudity, and most importantly, women.
On the other hand, if you are more just wishing to convey this woman apropos of nothing, I would lose the black bar, or at least incorporate the cubism angle more, like you did with the red patch on her stomach.

Glad to hear it. While I'm always a sucker for a good political message this particular painting is my favorite of your series.

Although the Bar looks good it makes it a completely different painting with a different meaning then the original. The Original speaks of comfort and pride in the way the model feels about her body and like most your work foggy it desensitizes a women's breast and other features giving way for viewers to see the real meaning behind the art, where as the black band seems to draw attention to the breasts more. I am not a painter but i do appreciate art and i think your decision to not include the band is good.
I also love the placement of the square over the belly button, this to me is the greatest mystery of this painting and speaks to me the most. it gives more meaning to that area on her body because you covered it. I dont wanna say the reasons it might be there because i don't wanna be inconsiderate to the model. but i feel there is a pain, or reminder of something to do with that area.
of course i could be wrong but art speaks to people in different ways. But either way like always amazing work Foggy i love seeing your art.

She has a beautiful navel. I painted it realistically then realized the painting required that color there. Simple as that.

Your painting is fabulous. The colors are exciting, the model's expression make for very inquisitive subject matter. Thanks for sharing your talent with us, I bet that you will have an exhibition in the future. Just tell me where and when. I love art shows, the next big one is in Portland, ME the last saturday in August. Hundreds of artists exhibiting and selling their work. Have you ever exhibited??

Doc: thanks for the encouragement. I had a retrospective in 1999 and no longer show. Too much trouble. Also, I am not a commercial artist. Once you get trapped into the gallery system, you have to produce work that is approved by the dealer. And they are pretty much low life garbage. All considered I would rather be a lawyer (which I am not).

Wow, you have some serious talent. Really great. I think I like it with the black band. Seems to make more of a statement to me. Otherwise, I'd probably only see what they're hiding, but the black band makes me look elsewhere.

Bryan: The decision has been made. No black band. It isn't hiding much though. The model gets so pissed when I refer to her little thingies. It's up to you to look elsewhere on your own.
