I’ve tried most of the blends you all have mentioned.
They’re good, but my favorite is the Reiner long flake VaPer.
It costs a bit more, but it’s worth it.
And it seems to be the highest rated VaPer here.....

looking for recommendations for a first VaPer blend to try. got my eyes on some Escudo Navy Deluxe but interested to hear everyones take on what youd recommend for my first blend. Wanna know what worked for you or what you would not recommend trying. ive been told to perhaps ease into it w a lower percentage of perique. Thanks in advance!

Some pretty good recommendations already but may I suggest another one: Dan's Tobacco "Treasure of Ireland" Limerick. It's billed as a Virginia Flake but it has just enough perique in it to give it a kick. I feel like if you already like the sweetness of Virginias this would be a great introduction to Va/Pers.

That said, I started with Dunhill's Elizabethan Mix, and now that Peterson's is making them again maybe it's worth looking into. It's on the stronger side with the nicotine though, so be wary of that. Another stronger blend that no one seems to have mentioned yet is Samuel Gawith's Cabbie's Mixture.

Hahaha, no, not that I am aware, sorry, bad phrasing. I just meant that they are blends that are often "out of stock" and only drop every so often. At this current moment they are both (relatively) easy to find as compared to "usual"
That’s a relief as I am still holding out hope that I’ll get to try a few of the Esoterica blends eventually. Not sure I’d be in at the bulk price up there in Alaska though!

Yeah, paying that would be absurd. There are still a few tins of Esoterica kicking around on the internet tubes from the recent drop though.

I cracked open a tin recently and had a couple of bowls. As of now, I would rate it even higher than Escudo. Not much Perique though, mostly satisfyingly sweet Virginia

Ditto, to all the above! Such great suggestions you really can't go wrong! This is the problem with this hobby soo many taste buds..I would see which one was listed the most and start with that! My vote goes to PS Bullseye flake. It's sweet and savory!

Enjoy!

Escudo and Anniversary Kake were my first two VaPers. The Anni Kake was a little better experience diving in but can't go wrong with either.

MM Country Gentleman is a pouch VaPer.
I enjoyed it when I first bought it in 2016, so I bought a dozen pouches of it. And the years have been good to it.

I’m sure the fact that I almost exclusively smoke MM cob pipes has nothing to do with my enjoyment of this blend.

+1 for Viprati. Good stuff.

Russ Oullette's Perique series is on sale for $7 a tin right now (half price). It would be a good way to experience some of the subtle differences perique has to offer.

The GP11 is out of stock but the other 3 are available.

Wow!! Never knew there were so many types of tobacco. Seems like it would take more than a week to just look at half of it. Just Wow!

I’m not a big fan of Escudo, but it’s the benchmark VaPer, and probably worth becoming familiar with. One, you may love it like so many do. Two, it’s a very useful touchstone for comparison.

A very unique VaPer I’ll recommend (like several others already have) is Anniversary Kake. It’s relatively sweet, and the good amount of perique in it presents more in a dark fruity way, without much much spice.

[“Perique” autocorrected to “pedicures” when I first typed that. Good thing I caught that. To each his own, but a blend with toenails, deadskin, and toejam might only appeal to a foot fetishist]
