First SG haul

Still in the infancy of my pipe smoking days, but managed to get ahold of some SG yesterday. Unfortunately no SL or Skiff in stock... I managed a chuckle from the owner when I asked about Esoterica.

SJF is the only tin I've cracked this far, but it will not be my last. Impressive stuff...

It's on my shortlist, but much like most of the Esoterica it seems to be a low supply high demand item. At least here if the U.S. of A.

1792 Flake is very good .

I was apprehensive given the reviews that it is a nicotine beast, but the tonquin bean and whisky intrigued me.

I've found some alchohol topped blends to be nice and others not to my liking... crossing my fingers here.

Yes, same here. I hope my expectations of FVF do not exceed the experience.

How does SL compare with Skiff for you. I'll get both in time, but love to hear actual experiences.

1792 is rubbish and don’t like full virginia Flake.
Both a waste of my money and at £15 approx I can’t afford experimenting.
The best is SG Kendal Black or Brown Sliced Twist Aromatic, in bulk.
Smoking some Nightcap OK but won’t buy it again.

Skiff is a bit stronger than SL. There is less of a nicotine hit in SL, while a bit harder hit in Skiff.

Both GREAT blends IMHO. I haven't had a Sam Gawith I haven't like yet. I will keep trying though

I have recently opened a tin of fvf and found it okay. I need to spend more time with it. I have a sealed tin of navy flake waiting for me also

I love the different opinions. At $25/tin this was not a cheap experiment, but given the reputation of SG I was willing to roll the dice. I suspect there will be some 250g purchases in the future for a few of these.

Cracking open the Best Brown now to see if it needs some drying time while I prep the grill.

I would recommend using a dedicated lakeland pipe for the Firedance flake. To me it tastes like puke. Most vile weed II have ever smoked. Good luck.

The firedance flake is decent but I agree that it will linger in a pipe after a few smokes. I mix it with lane edgeworth ready rubbed match and enjoy it quite a bit
