The Frog Morton Series helped introduce me to English blends. McClelland Blue Mountain is currently my favorite.

Presbyterian Mixture is a great oriental blend but not really an "English," in terms of being a balanced mixture of Virginias, latakia, and other orientals. If it contains any latakia at all, it's in such a tiny quantity that no one seems certain about it.
I was just about to suggest this. Lat or not, it's a nice beginner 'English'. And to be honest, as a blend it couldn't be more English; navy blue, slightly boring and dreary. God save the Queen.

Okay, we're using different definitions here. Sounds like "English" means "non-aromatic" to you. For me an "English" must include Latakia, along with Virginias and orientals. So that was why I posted what I did.
