I just received an estate Peter Heeschen pipe with a musk ox horn stem. It turns out to have a fairly large triangular chip on the top of the stem, just behind the button. It’s not over the slot at least, but I am considering returning it because the listing failed to mention it. If I keep it, I would want tofill it. What’s the best fill material? Powedered horn and CA? Just CA?

Interesting. Where would you get powdered horn from? Is there a type of epoxy that is that off white colour? You should be able to blend it and not make it too visable.
Unless that is what CA is of course.

The horn is available at Vermont Freehand. I'd probably drill a hole in it, then take the shavings that were removed by the drill and powder them in a mortar and pestle.
CA is short for cyanoacrylate super glue.
