Suggestion for our pipe-smoking overlords: Add a polling feature to the site.
As an example, consider Slashdot. The site is amostly centered around aggregating interesting techie news and allowing users (including "Anonymous Cowards") to providing commentary. Not unlike our forums, it hosts a community (albeit orders of magnitude larger). The polling feature is quite amusing, and varies frequently. It is also a constant source of jokes (a frequent answer is CmdrTaco, one of the founder's forum name).
I think this could work for us. I can imagine polls on pipes, shapes, tobaccos, etc. I can imagine jokes, too. And I can imagine people suggesting poll topics as well
