All are well known or respected. Just wanted to see what the spread of choices were like. Seems that the old classics (A Christmas Story, It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol) are the clear leads with Christmas Vacation just about right up there as well.

Two classics, but much flawed, movies on Christmas themes:
White Christmas -- which is an extremely strange film about a discharged military unit that is so attached to their

commanding officer that they work desperately to save his ski lodge from going broke. Yes, it has

Bing and pipes, but it has a curiously small town idea of people in relation to a military industrial complex

army. It's a traffic jam of cultural messages, which makes it much like Christmas as we know it.
Meet Me in St. Louis -- which has a Christmas segment, and the intravenous nostalgia dose of a song,

"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas."
Awful movies, in a way, but full of human longing and aspirations of emotional closeness.
"It's a Wonderful Life" is just too psychiatric for me. Jimmy Stewart is just a bit too ... Jimmy Stewart in that one.

"The Christmas Toy.". Never heard of it before my wife got it our first Christmas together and we watch it every Christmas Eve. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to enjoy these movies, but not looking forward to how much more Christmas will cost then, haha.

OK OK I will be the Odd man out. This spans both Halloween and Christmas, but I love - A NightMare Before Christmas by Tim Burton.

We also watch Christmas Vacation, Christmas Story and Elf. But for me Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite.

I'll post up with DrWatson & Peck and throw down with "Holiday Inn." But I also love Warren's selection,

"3 Godfathers." (The director, John Ford, must've had a soft spot for Christmas. There's a really sweet Christmas scene in "Donovan's Reef" with bruised and battered Lee Marvin and John Wayne attending church after an epic slugfest.)

I'm a big fan of "It's a Wonderful Life".
This trailer for the re-imagining of the film by Martin Scorsese made me laugh, "The Wolf of Bedford Falls".

I've been watching Holiday Inn with my wife every Christmas Eve for the last 15 years. This year we're going to try White Christmas.

Scrooge with Albert Finnery is my favorite.
I also like Home Alone, A Muppet's Christmas Carol, The Santa Clause, and all of those specials like Frosty and The Year Without A Santa and Charlie Brown's Christmas.

Here's my list of must watch Christmas movies;
A Christmas Story ( my favorite )

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

The Grinch (cartoon)

The Grinch (with Jim C. )

Ernest Saves Christmas

The Santa Clause ( Tim Allen )

A Christmas Carol
I still enjoy some of the kids classics too, I've already said The Grinch, but I admit I still like Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer, Frosty The Snowman, Charlie Brown's Christmas, and Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.

There are a lot of Christmas shows and cartoons that I like as well, I was just following the OP and named a movie.
