I think this may be what I experienced with lj peretti #8. It was almost like I have to cough a throat tickle, if you will. Has anyone else ever have that experience with #8?

I get a bit of that unflavored seltzer action in Embarcadero, but that is a Va/Or without Latakia. Good stuff.

The new version of Balkan Sobranie from Germain when aged has a major soda note. I bought several tins in 2014 and had opened one back then but found it bland and jarred it. I did not touch it again until this year and when I tried it again this time I found it was wonderful and had a major soda note which I have since read online was a trait of the previous BS version.

Really? Jiminks has used that description many times in his reviews. In fact when the OP mentioned it I thought it sounded rather directed at him. A obvious 'nod' if you will.

What I mean by a soda taste is like the taste of Perrier mineral water or club soda. It is a mineral like flavor.

And I think of it as the taste of an unsalted soda cracker such as Saltines

I've only had Hearth and Home White Knight once but I'd say it fits the bill quite perfectly.

Others, including JimInks, seem to agree (based on their reviews). The word "soda" appears no less than 13 times in the Tobaccoreviews entry; the word "buttery" appears twice.

Never really got the soda note that people speak of and I’ve tried the original Balkan Sobranie that is so famous for having that “soda” note. Twas really good but I got no soda out of it whatsoever.
