Bewlay

Guys I am rather a fan of Bewlay pipes and regularly see them sell on auction sites for very reasonable prices. This one has really surprised me as the Briar cut is not a high grade Bewlay. I know there is a lot of talk of who actually made Bewlay pipes but this doesnt seem to effect price.

am I missing something here?

Aside from it being a BBB Meer with a 1891 hallmark, and what may be an amber stem, and very good size? What else?

Pipe is in very good condition, my first take is is looks like a Sasieni Old England, the Retford shape. Might be an Orlik, they made a similar shape, but the style of the rustication looks very Sasieni.

The rustication is very reminiscent of Sasieni. Besides Barling and Charatan, who made pipes for Bewlay? As for the price, it doesn't seem excessive considering the condition and the amount of work that went into the finish.
