There are different times when a bowl is good but there's just something about the end of the day. Perhaps it's the relaxation or taking the time to reflect on the events of the day but it's my favorite. I smoke cigars too and really enjoy them but for a quiet last moment of the day nothing beats a pipe! (The Scotch is nice too.)
I hope it's not just me...

It's just you. The rest of us hate to smoke our pipes at the end of the day. And we certainly can't stand good spirits with them. Weirdo.....

The end of the day is really about the only time that I smoke anymore unless I have a day off in which I pretty much have a pipe going all day. Especially with all the S#!^% I have going on in my life right now it is pretty much the one constant in my day that I can look forward to.

Personally I often do an EOD bowl, either to try something different, wrap the day up with an old friend blend, or just plain old unwind.

A week or two ago, C&D Bayou Night was my late evening bowl, but I've been given a buffet of strong burley blends that also fill the bill, so now I have an evening rotation. Peterson 3 P's, C&D Dreams of Kadath, Burley Flake #5, and Bluegrass, and Briar Works Country Lawyer. Not to mention Old Joe Krantz and Riverboat Gambler (both C&D). And others.

End of day is good. I like just before sunset.
Scotch: I used to do scotch and cigars years ago. However, since picking up tobacco again in the form of pipe smoking, I have not enjoyed scotch with my better tobaccos...the strong scotch flavor blows away the more subtle flavors of the tobacco. I've switched to beer or wine with my pipe...or water with a squeeze of lemon and then the alcochol drink is enjoyed separately after the bowl is smoked.
Taste is an individual thing, of course.

Evening blends for me are the stronger blends like 1792, Irish Flake etc. Recently ODF earned a place on the list. Tonight it will be 1792 Flake and a glass of Glenkinchie.

I’m a smoke a bowl throughout the day kind of guy, and if I’m not too tired I’ll have an evening smoke as well. Lately I’ve been super lucky and my wife has been joining me in my evening smoke. I do love some bubbly water or some black tea with my tobaccos. I usually save the malt for cigars.

For me, the beginning of 'the day' is my favorite time. I guess I'm an optimist? I look forward to a day's worth of experiences. (when I'm not feeling sick)

At the end of the day, I often leave a bowl partially smoked to pick up in the a.m.

As a nicotine addict, I like to be able to 'take the edge off' right away after my time in the sack.
