I saw on CNN or whatever cable channel shows congress in action, that they were putting through legislation either yesterday or today on e-cigarettes and other unregulated tobacco products (pipe tobacco and cigars?) and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this?

Here in UK e-cigarettes and "vaping" are becoming very popular - one issue that our friends in the anti-tobacco groups, is that they MIGHT encourage children to smoke - as far as I'm concerned, they're not smoking cigarettes so there shouldn't be an issue.

The issue with e-cigs as I understand it is that most of the ones you buy in places like gas stations are completely unregulated. The e-cig works by heating up a liquid to gaseous form which you then inhale. The benefits are zero carcinogens and a "tasty?" flavor (my roommate has one and I have to say that they taste terrible). Anyways, the liquids are often made in China and there are no regulations on what chemicals go into them and because of this they could potentially be very dangerous. This might be one "anti"-tobacco legislation I could get behind.

As it should be. We should be forcing the gov't. to regulate less, not more.

Then head on down the slippery slope, my friend. Do you really think that the gov't seeks to regulate anything out of altruistic benevolence? Their only concern is money. Money and power. Power and money. Choose your own emphasis.
