I am also the owner of a Whangee as I believe they are affectionately called. Bought from the wife of a late pipe smoker. The stamping is very worn (presumably just due to wear 'n tear) but I can just make out the circle with a "W" and "LB" (which I believe refers to Large Billiard, since it is a sizeable pipe, and I would hazard a guess that the "60" on yours may refer to a shape number[?]). I can also see what may be a small underscore to the lower right of the "LB", but no number is visible. Of course as you can see, some "helpfull" soul did however engrave what looks like either "1989" or possibly (wishful thinking, since it's the wife's birth year) "1969" on it which is quite visible and helped my case in getting it for a very reasonable price.

I have no doubt that it's the real deal though as the collection had many "pukka" Dunhills, as I believe is yours. Hope this helps a bit.

In any event it is a fantastic smoker, I'm sure you'll get much enjoyment from yours. Congrats on a great purchase and welcome to the Whangee club.

P.S. There is also a pic of the whole pipe in this thread: Does Bamboo Color As It Ages? :: Pipe Talk - https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/does-bamboo-color-as-it-ages.83114/

Even if your camera autofocus seemed to think you really wanted a perfectly clear image of your fingerprint and thumb cuticle-- it's impossible not to think you've scored one of Dunhill's offbeat classics (based, as many of them are) on the 60 shape billiard.

There are several ardent fans and owners of Whangees among us who may be able to weigh in on their not standard Dunhill nomenclature--which I've only inferred from photographs.

For instance, this one up on Ebay stamped with the name of a Munich pipe shop (still in business) which began to import Dunhill pipes to Germany in 1912.

Haha! My camera really did good job on autofocusing on my finger print and thumb cuticle but not so much on the star of the show. Thank you for sharing the information about W60. I just finished smoking the first bowl and it's an excellent smoker. I am a big fan of bamboo and have quite a collection but this is my first Dunhill bamboo. I've done some research before but have no experienced eye for it so i really appreciate your comment on this!

Now, you imperative--assuming that you don't yet own one--is to spend some ridiculous money on a Swaine Adeney Brigg "Whangee" umbrella. Ideally, this should be with a real black silk canopy. But if you're on a budget (and want to save about £500), no one will blame you for choosing nylon--and really, very few people will even notice.

Never seen a bamboo Dunhill. Beautiful pipe! There seems to be little free space to make standard markings.
Thanks, my friend. That was my initial thoughts when I got this pipe, so i looked for the Dunhill logo everywhere. This is an unique one.
