Good Morning all, I would greatly appreciate your opinions on this pipe especially around markings and the button.

1953 Root briar, button looks passable. Pipe has been a little beaten up, but should clean up into a decent, not pristine, pipe. No real red flags.

If that is indeed a '53, I know someone looking for a '53 Dunny who could clean that up very nicely.

has to be a '53 since it has a patent number and group and finish stamps.

Yes, 1953 and should clean up easily, maybe a little work on the rim. Stem is most likely a later replacement, but oh well....
Button is passable and can be refinished with some black superglue.
A size 1 Dunhill is rare, good grain on this one.

Thank you for your replies. I'm glad to clarify the date as through my loupe the date number looked like a 6 or 8 which was confusing me.

From 1955 the pat.nr. was no longer shown on the pipe.

The groupnrs. were introduced in 1951.
