Saw this for sale locally in a lot of pipe stuff. Just trying to determine what it is. Any ideas?

I can't help you but it’s sweet that the bottom is a tamper. I wonder if it’s got an angled nozzle.

Yes I liked the tamper on the base. To be fair, it might not be a Dunhill lighter, just a random one in a box that a tamper came in?

Figured it out. It’s a super clip lighter. Maybe made for Peterson’s. The clip has broken off.

I couldn't figure out what the little thing under the thumbwheel was, i was thinking it was a pressure plate to "unlock" the lighter but now that you said that i can see that was where the clip connected.

Looks cool compete but I’d imagine the clip could get in the way of tamping.

The flame is vertical and adjustable.
I’ve had it for a year or so but haven’t ever used it as a lighter. It sits on my desk at the foot of my monitor and I use the tamper all the time.

I have a few of these (slim, round lighters with tamper feet) of different makes and brands. Super Clip under their own name and others, and my favorite Flamex "Pocket Pipe" lighter. They look and work great until they don't. I have spoken with all the on-line and local vintage lighter repair guys I can and it is agreed that all the Japan-made export lighters of the 50's-70's are not repairable.

You can replace flints and refill butane, but when the valves go, it's a paperweight. Unlike an ST or Dupont or Ronson.

It is an amazing little lighter. The guys who made it were going for a lighter with a tamper and ended up with a tamper that had a lighter.
