Sounds like a good place to start.Salt and alcohol in the bowl would be my first thing to do.

That stem doesn't look too bad, just the usual treatment in there.
I think i mentioned this in your other thread, but I would fill the bowl with cotton balls, and the shank with a some cotton as well and give the outside a nice clean with Murphy's oil and warm water.
My first clean up was a Dr. Grabow as well.
