Anyone know firsthand or some other way if tobacco bugs tunnel through mylar?

Just wondering. I put cigars directly into the freezer upon arrival to kill them. Never pipe tobacco. I either jar or mylar pipe tobacco. I got to wondering if the mylar can hold 'em inside if they're in the bags or tins? What say you?

When I worked in a smoke shop 15 years ago, the only tobacco bug problem I came in contact with was in a carton of *super* cheap cigarettes. The lady came in demanding I replace the entire carton after showing me the sticks riddled with holes. I replaced the 4 or 5 packs that were left in the carton. Obviously, it wasn’t that big of an issue seeing as she had smoked the other packs. I have not heard of this happening with pipe tobacco. But, I suppose it’s possible. I’d imagine the processing may take care of a lot of that problem. And I would assume premium cigars are aged long enough for bug traces to be noticeable prior to packaging and shipping. The cheaper cigars that are pretty much rolled and sent out fairly quickly after leaving the field may have this bug issue though. Just my thoughts.

I have never seen a tobacco bug in my life.

There you go.

Basically he is a bookworm beetle or furniture beetle who has a liking for the finest cigars and Virginia tobaccos.

He wouldn't be seen dead near any Latakia tobacco, that would be like a furniture beetle eating pine wood as opposed to the finest English oak ;)

Jay.
