That's wet tobacco, packing too tight, and smoking too fast.
Hadn't noticed that, and I smoke straight and bent pipes about equally.
There's some pipes, no matter the shape or your puffing technique ,that will smoke hot. I haven't found that straight pipes smoke hotter then bents. I have a few, both straight & bent that smoke hot, but they are thin walled and smooth.
Not in my experience. I’ve got a few straights and a lot of bents, they all smoke dry and cool when properly packed.
True. And red cars go faster than any other color.
None of my straight or bent pipes smoke wet or hot. If you get your technique down you never have to worry about a wet or hot pipe. Just read as much as you can and ask plenty of questions.
Insurance is certainly higher on them.
Most of my pipes are bent billiards and I find that they’re not as “wet”. Occasionally I get that ash moisture in my mouth w/my straight pipes if I don’t keep them angled slightly.
I had an insurance agent friend tell me it's because they get pulled over most frequently, and white cars the least. My first car was a white mustang. Irony is I've always hated mustangs. I was raised on the Chevy and Mopar side of the war. Anyway, I only got pulled over twice in 5 years. Once for blatantly running a stop sign, once for doing 55 in a 20. So far I'm buying the logic ?
I think a lot of newer smokers keep looking for the magic bullet that will make them smoke like a seasoned pipeman. Fact is, there’s no substitute for experience.
Own both. Smoke both. Like both. Only common denominator that I’ve found for steam-prone pipes so far is a constricted airway.
