I got bored. Ordered one that had "Made in Czech Republic" and another that had "Captain Black". They are different after a careful review. On brief look over, they are very similar. But deeper examination reveals following differences.

1. Most obvious one. One has "Made in.." on it.
2. The round end of tamper for "Made in.." has sharper bend.
3. The pick of "Made in.." has pointy end.
4. "Made in.." has better finish.
5. "Made in.." has slightly "heavier" feel.

I'm pretty sure they are just cosmetic differences. Both will probably out last most of the current smokers.

I inherited a Czech tool from my grandfather through my dad, and they have changed very little, though mine is pretty darkened, not rust but grayish black.

Sounds like yours has nice patina on it. It's also an oxidation, but won't eat into the steel like rust. And layer of patina will usually keep rust away.
