Alright. I made my own pipe and used the stem from a cheapo. The stem sit after hours of fine sanding. I though I was careful to not force it but in showing off the pipe on the forum some1 pointed out a hairline crack. Doesnt effect smoking it. But for future reference. How can I repair it? Safe glues or what?
Thanks! Cody
The crack is pretty visible :(

You might be able to CAREFULLY pry the crack open so that you can get some Super glue down in it. Any good repair shop can sell you a band to put on it.

Just asking around with local woodwork/iron smith around because i had the same issue.

Check if the crack went through, apply super glue and then put a ring band around it.
Good luck, and post a pic when ur done :puffy:

Where can we find bands to put on our cracked shanks?

I have a local shop 25 miles away but they don't do repairs, I'd love to learn how to band a pipe.

I just sold 18 pipes on eBay for less than $20 that all had varying degrees of cracked shanks.

Another repair I'd love to learn is tenon replacement.

I've heard about delrin? replacement tenons and I have a dozen pipes that need one but I can't afford $26 a pop

to have them sent out for a replacement.
