That song has had a fascinating life. one problem with that song I think the Devil won. Always thought he did a better job then the guy that made the deal with him.
Willie Nelson wrote Crazy but he wasn't the first one to commercially record it. He had only made demos of it while trying to sell the song.
Patsy Cline didn't cover Crazy, she was the first one to record it.
I have always thought that too. However, I don't have any ability to tell which one was technically more difficult to play.
The devils especially when you consider his multitasking of shredding on the fiddle and summoning at the dsme time. Say what you will but that is some skill.

For those of you who are ‘50’s aficionados or are old enough to remember, the Diamonds’ version of “Little Darlin’‘ “ beats the Gladiolas’ version. However, I can’t say the same for “Church Bells May Ring” or “Why do Fools Fall in Love,” which pale in comparison to the original versions by the Willows and Teenagers, respectively.
Any song by Bob Dylan sung by anybody who is not Bob Dylan.
I concur and insist that Patti Smith be added to the "anyone other than" list.
even many of his fans say he's a better writer then performer.
