Hi, friends! I can't find the manufacturer of this meerschaum pipe anywhere. Maybe someone has seen such a coat of arms with griffins? What kind of company? Could it be the beginning of the 19th century? I want to get more information about this pipe. Thank you for your support. photo_2025-04-17 10.54.05.jpegphoto_2025-04-17 10.54.00.jpegphoto_2025-04-17 10.54.09.jpegphoto_2025-04-17 10.53.26.jpeg

Not so sure about 19 century. This kind of shape simulating briar pipes became to be popular on early 20 century. So i think it is early 20 century and for the patina , it may be massa.

I can only send you a video showing an employee of the museum in gloves showing a pipe.

At a guess Vienna manufacture from the final decades of the 19th century, intended to be sold in the British Empire or America.

As xrundog rightly says anything legible on the cap would help.

Knowing the maker is essential, unfortunately many do not mark them. I have several great Meers with no makers mark.
Carver/manufacturer is everything. Meerschaum is not rare, or even uncommon....it's extremely plentiful, even in it's highest grade.
Anyone who has spent time in Turkey, or other ME countries can tell you, there are a LOT of Meerschaum carvers. There are entire towns where Meerschaum pipe carving is the main occupation. It's not uncommon to find very old(18th century) pipes on ebay.
So, in my opinion, this piece may be an interesting museum piece to "normys", but without a story or legendary maker, it's just a busted old pipe to pipe smokers......in my opinion.

It is believed that it was owned by a famous poet. But perhaps the pipe was made much later than 1841, when the poet was no longer alive.
