Is Peterson's Sherlock Holmes a Aromatic or English tobacco. To me it smokes like an English.

Alright, while I cannot answer your question at this moment, having never tasted this tobacco, I will get a tin in the near future and I will give you my two cents once I’ve determined my feeling on the matter. Like I need another reason to get some more tobacco! Thanks for the impetus to do just that

Definitely not an English, no Latakia. It's a Virginia/Burley with a citrus topping.

VaBur with a light casing or topping, short of a full aromatic, is my take.

To me, it’s nearly the same casing as on Royal Yacht.

Its not really an aromatic. The flavor/scent is so light. Actually, DRUM has a stronger scent to the smoke then the sherlock holmes does.

Honestly, I dont even understand WHY they put the topping stuff on this blend. It would be worth 60$ per pound bulk without it.

Well either way, I think that this tin will be a "one and done" when finished. I just discovered Balkan Sasieni and it blows Sherlock away!

Completely different blend of tobaccos, but there's no arguing with the deliciousness of Sasieni. My most transcendent smoke to date was a bowl of Sasieni on the patio, and I've been chasing that high ever since.

That said, I also love Sherlock and am stocked suuuuuper deep in both blends.

The term "aromatic" is very nuanced in the pipe tobacco world.
Most tobaccos are cased, which I dont consider an aromatic.
Once they add a top sause, its technically an aromatic.
Orlik Golden Slice, most MacBaren blends, and many all time favorites are "technically" aromatics.

Everyone knows its a delightly full tasting blend of virginias and malawi burley with an odd and acrid citrus style topping.

But seriously, if they sold it without that topping, id be buying it in bulk

There are Aros and semi Aros. Almost all commercial blends use flavorings to a greater or lesser extent.
