Another question thread for everyone. I personally don't like Dunhill pipes much nothing jumps out as very special to me about them outside of the price seeming to be several points above worth. So the question what pipe brands do you feel the same way about. It's not a hate just a meh not my taste by the way, though out right hate is very entertaining too.

? Dunhill is an interesting one, let's just say personally I like them but find them to be very "low-value" pipes.

To be even more blasphemous (since we're here already), I think Anne Julie pipes are wildly mediocre. I've only ever handled two (both supposedly with 5-figure price tags) and I don't know if there's a way to give my opinion without it sounding like sour grapes...

Here
What's wrong with sour grapes? ?

I tried to like the Falcon pipes. I bought a new one. Didn't do well with it. Tried getting meerschaum bowls, still couldn't enjoy it.

My morta sits dormant for the most part. Mine has thin walls and gets incredibly hot. I'm inclined to try a more robust style before writing off the material, though.

I must confess that independent/artisan pipes by anyone under 50 years old seems too hipster-level pretentious to me, and they are usually overpriced. I have the same feeling about knives. Low production doesn't mean you're an artist, it means you're slow.

They make great planters.

Hipsters gravitate toward classic English shapes to emulate a look of ironic modern.

I was specifically referring to pipe makers, but I see and agree with what you're saying. As much as I hate to admit it, I might just be a hipster myself and I prefer lovat, Canadian, and billiard shapes.

But the "maker", aeropress coffee drinking, homebrew master, I only smoke red Virginia culture has produced many a pipe obscenity which is gladly smoked by the D20 system, magic the gathering, fella who's actually gone out and gotten a real job in order to afford it.

I've never been a Dunhill fan, kind of like buying Designer Brand clothing because of the name. I also find the pure traditional shapes a bit boring and prefer Artisan pipes that put their flair on traditional shapes as well as the customized stems and larger drilling. With that said, Dunhill certainly makes fine pipes smokers have enjoyed for decades. It's purely personal preference.
