I got an ebay pipe and it said it was marked lumberman. I was hoping for a savinelli lumberman but when I got it in today I looked at it and is says "LUMBERMAN" over "DELUXE" on the top of the shank and on the underside it says made in london in a circle over england in a straight line. The pipe also has the number 309X on the shank. I googled a lumberman deluxe 309 and it came up with Comoy as the brand of pipe and also this link to a Mr. Can ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-RARE-ARCHED-COMOYS-DELUXE-309XL-LUMBERMAN-UNIQUE-VERY-PRISTINE-/350823684297?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51aeb898c9&nma=true&si=UZv9dFg0xG9tKCfAebqoiIDEy7k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I read through the listing because he usually has pretty good info and come upon this paragraph:
"After World War II, Comoy reintroduced the “DE LUXE,” discontinued the ARCHED “COMOY’S” and continued various versions of the “LUMBERMAN”! Perhaps Comoy’s” best” graded “LUMBERMAN” was stamped “LUMBERMAN DE LUXE” - - - but it had no “Comoy” stamping. ”LUMBERMAN” was always stamped over “DE LUXE”!!!"
Well I seem to have a Lumberman Deluxe, it has a cracked shank and needs cleaned badly but unless it is burned out
I think it will be fixable. Does any one know about these type of pipes? Any info is appreciated.
