Hello; I have a mystery pipe and need your help.
I bought this unusual pipe and can not find any information about it.
It looks and feels old, but it has never been broken in. Possibly a gift or ceremonial?
Seems to be a decent briar, but then it gets really special due to the custom engraving.
Left side has 1930/1931
Right side has Commander-In-Chief
The front of the bowl is inscribed with a hard to read latin with the US Presidential Seal
The Pipe maker has a sterling silver band with "Sterling" on it PLUS 3 hieroglyphs
The first is difficult to read possibly a fish or snake, the second is a "M", the third is a Lion perhaps?
Has anyone any idea what this pipe represents and who made it?
Failing that, who do we know that has extensive pipe knowledge? Please see attached pics in file20210308_163454.jpg
I appreciate your help and time
