Hello, thanks in advance for reading my post. I recently purchased a Perterson Junior pipe, hopefully some of you know, the shank and stems on these pipes are quite thin. The stem is so thin, I am unable to pass an extra absorbant Brigham pipe cleaner through. I thought I should order some thinner/less absorbant ones, but after trimming one of my extra absorbants to as thin as i could get, it still wont pass.

Should I give up on cleaning this stem? I'm quite put off by the whole thing. Hoping someone here has one of these Junior pipes and can shed some light!

Thanks again.

they make thing pipe cleaners. Falcon pipe cleaners work great for smaller holes. I also have found that my new favorite pipe cleaners are tapered ones which start or end really small and get quite large. Which means the thin end handles almost and size stem hole while the fat end is great for the draught hole in the shank for most pipes. This includes my ratray which is super tight.

I'm thinking I will order some Falcon pipe cleaners and see if they work well. Thanks for the insight.

Use taper pipe cleaner, Peterson Taper pipe cleaners are great but I buy other ones that are still great but cheaper, I am in the UK so I don't know what Pipe cleaners are available elsewhere.

I use regular BJ Long pipe cleaners in my Peterson Junior Canted Billiard and they're a little snug, but they pass through the stem into the bowl just fine, and I always leave the stem attached when pipe cleanering my pipes.

I've found that the 9" BJ Longs are a little thinner than the regular length and easier to use in some of my pipes with a tight airway. I don't know if it's a batch-by-batch thing or what, but try 'em: https://www.smokingpipes.com/access...aning-supplies/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=328251

Couple of things you've probably already thought of: when you take the pipe apart for cleaning, try inserting the cleaner from the tenon end of the stem. And for tight-fitting pipe cleaners, I feed them in in very small increments from right next to the opening. That helps keep them from bending and jamming in there.
