Been smoking more cigars - I was curious if anyone has an air purifier for smoking indoors, and if so, if they really do eliminate the smell?

I've read various things and I'm not sure I'm convinced that they actually do truly eliminate odor (though it seems they do at least help).

Curious as to people's thoughts and what they've used.

Nope certainly can reduce it a lot. But at least from my experience your wife will know that you smoked in the room. She might be fine with it because it will be a lot less of the smell then without. Also depends on how often you smoke in the same room too.

I agree.

This question gets asked, and answered, frequently here, so I'll give you the quick answers:

1. Nothing short of removing the smoke will remove the odor. Smoke should be removed as close to the source as possible. Once it mixes into room air, all the room air has to be exchanged with fresh air.
2. The odor can be somewhat covered up with scents, but the non-smoker will not be fooled.
3. Air treatment, such as an electrostatic precipitator, HEPA filtration, ozone and activated charcoal will reduce the odor, but again, not eliminate it. Size matters, and an air treatment system needs to have sufficient capacity.
4. Smoke sticks to things, and is then damned near impossible to remove without serious cleaning.

The longer that the smoke hangs in the air, the more of it that will attach to the walls, carpet, upholstery, draperies, etc.

That unit should be sufficient for a small den or 20’ Conex box, provided there are no drapes.

Of course not. The smoke particles adhere to paint, carpet, clothes, hair, everything. Some filters may mitigate a bit but, overtime your room will gain a distinctive reek. No way around it. Just enjoy as a well earned side benefit of smoking, the reek of stale smoke. Comes with the self-selected wee vice at no extra charge.

Pop and I loved cigars and Mom (who had quit cigs) allowed us to smoke in one room because she's a saint. After pop passed in 06, my cigars were still tolerated. That said, it's one of many things I adore about pipes: They are less stinky. (I like lat blends too! Stinky is good, but ,,,) One is simply burning a lot less tobacco. (Many other merits with pipes ...) Me with a pipe keeps the peace. All good.

That said, the true answer is that cigars are cigars and one's likely got a better chance with a pipe indoors. Happy puffing.,

Damn smoke just gets into furniture and drapes, and you can't the stuff of it short of washing the item that it is in.
The best thing I had was 1500 cfm unit was tremendous at getting rid of the smoke and odor. None of the small units will get rid of all the odor.

My wife, who was an anti-tobacco freak when we met, now always comments on how wonderful our home smells when we return from a trip. And, I smoke cigars and pipes inside all the time. As for selling my house. a new coat of paint, a floor polish, and all will be good as new.

When we first fostered our daughter (my 6th and only non-genetic child) we had to do a home inspection once a week for the first month. This was a teen, not a baby, so... anyways, a few hours before the DHR rep would show up, we would spray the drapes with apple cider vinegar and wipe down all of the wood furniture. The DHR personnel would say, "I thought you said that you were a smoker? It smells like fruit in here" It works.

But, for the most part, we love the smell of smoke in our house. But, I still won't let cigarette smokers smoke. They can go smoke outside like a bitch. puffy
