Has anybody heard what McClelland is going to do with Christmas Cheer this year? I know they released CC 2017 last year. Maybe a CC 2017B?

Haven't heard, but I'm guessing it would be more of the same blend if they still have the tobacco's available to them. If not then I imagine they would call it something else, but who knows at this point.

You missed it. Because of the then pending FDA deeming regulations, they released 2016 & 2017 at the same time (Oct 2016?)

I think that the 40th Anniversary is supposed to be the 'placeholder' going forwards, until the FDA figures out what they want to do. :puffpipe:

Well, I secured 2 tins of 2016, and 2 tins of 2017 last year. I cracked a tin of 2016 last year and it needs some age on it. I'm hesitant on opening one of my 2017 tins anytime soon. I still need to acquire some 40th Anniversary blend.

I like the 40th Anniversary out of the can. I have not tried my '16 or '17 CC. Didn't the 2017 C.C. have an older crop in it than the '16? I might be wrong on that.

No the 2016 was from a 2010 crop and the 2017 was from a 2013 crop. I did crack a tin of the '16 and enjoyed a few bowls before letting it age in a mason jar. Has anyone cracked a tin of the 2017 yet to compare? I also enjoy the 40th anniversary and am planning on continuing to stock up to be able to see how it ages in the years to come.

I thought that it did not kick in for another year or so? Enough time for one more CC?
Though the guillotine wasn't set to drop until next August, new blends couldn't be issued after August 8th of last year. So McClelland put out two Christmas Cheers in 2016 to get around the rule. 2017 is the last one. For McClelland to offer a Christmas Cheer 2018 they would have to have an order for it on record prior to the August 8th 2016 cutoff date.

Thanks for the clarification, however when was the 40th anniversary issued? Did it just scrape in before the deadline? I hope so since it is a very nice blend in its own right :)
