Recalls are very common across all auto manufacturers.

That's what I was thinking. But, of course lately, things are being recalled that would have just normally have been a part of the "life of the car." My wife's driver's side window motor was recalled, because the motors all needed updating. I don't think Toyota has had any more than other modern cars.

Someone left the taps running in the bathroom! Things happen with submarines, remember we British gave the world the one and only steam powered submarine with retractable funnels known as the 'K' class. Total disaster!

Nuclear submarine reactors heat steam to turn turbines. The K class was merely missing a reactor!
