Charatan Achievement grade: Unsmoked!

So, for all your Charatan experts. I was sent some images by an old friend of mine of some pipes he bought for me at an estate sale.

One pipe really stuck out to me. From the photos it appears to be an unsmoked Charatan Achievement. I know this is a very high grade, and can only find a few mentions here and there about it. Almost no photos of anything above Coronation grade

The only one I could find on EBay sold for 2.4k in 2017. Anyone with knowledge know how much this would realistically go for in today’s market?

I’m sorry for the bad photos, he’s a terrible texter. I’m surprised he even took the photos honestly.

He said he got a few other Charatan’s, Comoy, GBD, and a mix of Danish makes. He’s not the best communicator so that’s all the info I’ll be getting until he comes up to my place in a month

It didn’t translate well on the forum photos. Under Charatan’s Make London England “Achievement” can be read when I zoom in on my Apple Photos app

He also said the markings say “Achievement”, when I called him on the phone. Getting more photos isn’t going to be a likely proposition until I get the pipe (and others) in my possession

The only thing I might add is to comment on the shank/stem treatment, it being the same as the Charatan Crown model, which I believe was a mid-'70s introduction. Whereas the After Hours featured an abbreviated shank with a yellow synthetic extension the Crown model had a black lucite extension and two different length stems, as yours. I only point this out as it may indicate a similar time frame for your pipe. The box looks older than that to me, but then I've never seen an Achievement box. VERY nice grain, no doubt worthy of an Achievement grade!

Thank you! I’m sure the box had a nice insert at some point, not sure why it isn’t there anymore when the pipe is unsmoked.

Not complaining though! It is a really nice pipe. I can hardly wait to get my hands on it

No telling, the friend of mine who picked them up for me, is not the best photographer in the world. I’m surprised I got legible photos at all.

Yes, please post some legible photos. Be nice to see what it actually is. You really didn't pay a whole 26 bucks for hat thing did you? none of my business of course but if you did, you did not go wrong even if it's not a Achievement. Could very well be legit, just one of those odd ball pieces.

Yes, $26. I’m sure it’s a legit piece, the guy apparently had a ton of Dunhills, Autographs, and various higher end British and Danish makes

I wish my friend was able to have gotten more, but apparently it was a madhouse. 90+ pipe collection gone in 2 minutes

I’ll have this pipe (and the others) at my place in a month

I’m looking to sell most of what was got though, I’ve got a 3rd child on the way.

Once I have the pipes in hand and do the following

Chamber clean, stem clean, gentle stem buff, higher quality photos

I’ll post them up here. Will need some community help with accurate pricing. Some rare Comoy’s, other rare Charatan’s, Danish, etc…

Forum price vs consigning with Pipestud on EBay price or my own EBay selling. Not trying to gouge, just can’t justify keeping them
