You might consider finding some 100g tins. They’re the easiest to keep, since you can just toss them in a box in a closet and forget about them.

Also, you have impeccable taste in pipe tobacco. Scottish Mixture is a favourite.
I would like to agree with this on both counts. I love Scottish Mixture and it is my favorite tobacco as well. I buy tins to store, and I buy in bulk to store in glass jars.

Tins oxidise. Invariably. Whether this ruins the tobacco inside or changes it in any way is not something I've personally found out (or are at all interested in sussing out, ever) since I religiously transfer the tobacco to a jar as soon as it arrives. There're only three tins of HH Vintage Syrian in my cellar that I've left unopened, because I wanted them for speculative pursuits. Everything else is jarred.

Tobacco that I jarred three years ago is still fresh and moist in the jars even though I open them every now and then.

If you're not worried about resale, I am not, pour the contents of the puches in glass jars and seal tight. I also heat the lids in the sun or with a blow dryer to soften the rubber which helps to seal better. Make sure to place jars in a dry and dark place.

I ran across a pouch of John Bull that was 3 years old and it was just fine. Some OTC pouches (Borkum Riff cough cough) will still be around when the cockroaches inherit the earth.

I seal all my pouches up in Mylar. I just switched to 7mm Mylar and I’m much happier with that stuff. I don’t see it failing for a long long time, if ever in my lifetime.
