Glad I got up early and saw your post!
It's back now.
How ironic is it that Spotify emails me to tell me how great the show is doing and that we have over 500 listeners on their platform. Then, I tell Brian he should do a shoutout to Spotify listeners, and he does.
Then, our show promptly disappears from Spotify.
Stop reading here unless you are a total geek.
What had happened was....
In the changeover from http to https, I just did a find and replace in the xml file that is submitted to all of the podcast syndication apps. In the process the iTunes url got changed to https.
When you change this line of code:
<rss xmlns:itunes="
Connecting to the iTunes Store. - http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
To this:
<rss xmlns:itunes="
Connecting to the iTunes Store. - https://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
(The only difference is there's an "s" in https.)
There's a slightly different set of rules at the https url on itunes.com, and feed validators say there is no author, no cover art, and no email address associated with your feed. Completely maddening! Especially when there are 9 million answers to the problem that are all wrong, and you have to find the needle in the haystack that is the right answer, and especially since only Spotify has the issue, and not even Apple who created the shit in the first place.
Deep breath.
Ah. Ok, I feel better now.
