Been really enjoying Dreams of Kadath and am wondering what your impressions of the other Old Ones series blends are. Reviews are all over the map and many of the blends have some similarities in ingredients.
The grape intensity out grapes Captain Black Grape.. Visions of Celephais is also good if you don’t mind a heavier topping. Some find it a little “grapey,” but I like it.
Which is why it is AMAZING. I get the hate for both blends, but I like them. The grape intensity out grapes Captain Black Grape.
Exactly, I love them both. ?Which is why it is AMAZING.
How does the grape compare to captain bobs bkend? (It’s the only grape flavoured tobacco I’ve had so just using as a point of reference)Exactly, I love them both. ?
Never had that one. Not a big fan of much of anything with latakia anymore. How does the grape compare to captain bobs bkend? (It’s the only grape flavoured tobacco I’ve had so just using as a point of reference)
Do they still make it?Reminds me of an old Peretti blend: Lexington. It had a grape note, as in Lexington and “Concord.” I smoked it in the mid-70’s, if memory serves me.
I bought and cellared one of the Lovecraft blends, but I quit and sold them off.
The C&D blends I smoked I thought worthwhile. I am not smoking and thus really know nothing about the vast number of blends they've released, but from the outside, and let me say again that this is from the outside, I don't trust a blender's quality when they have 220 extant blends (per SP) with more added on a regular basis.
Compare this to GLP who pursues his palate's vision until he tastes that reality. He has 82 tobaccos (SP). I seems to me that too much of C&D production feeds the money machine.
“Elderly Joseph Krantz” ? I’m using that!I enjoyed Dreams', but I like other C&D blends more, like Billy Budd, "Elderly Joseph Krantz," Stratfordshire, Tuggle Hall, and others.
I've had the same experience. I get the impression that their goal is to cover all the bases. If I owned a pipe store I'd certainly carry their stuff if for no other reason then how much territory they can cover. If you ask me my guess is that other companies in a way are held back by their history and are more established and have more to risk by releasing blends that might not be as popular. C&D is relatively new and doesn't have the limitation of having a style or reputation that is cemented in the it's what my grandpa smoked. There is also the chance that they're inspired by the Pokimon slogan (something about catching them all).I’d say their blends are on par with most of the other available commercial blends out there today, with some that are real gems. And they make Pease’s blends, if I recall correctly.
funny thing is I just read your review and now for the first time I want to try it.I didn't enjoy it though I was able to get through the whole tin. I think my review of this tobacco is voted most "helpful" of all my reviews on tobaccoreviews

That's good! Reviews were meant to contribute to a discussion on a tobacco, not to impose hegemonic opinion.funny thing is I just read your review and now for the first time I want to try it.
